I just discovered the History Channel App and I got really excited that the first season of Vikings is available to watch free till February 28. So we started to watch. Oh my gosh, why is this thing so popular? Other than the fact that the Vikings used the same hair stylist as Harel Skaat and had excellent dental care I didn't learn anything in the first two episodes. It might be because I dozed off for about twenty minutes in episode two. Nevertheless, my kids are enjoying it, so they are trying to finish the season in three days.

Harel Skaat

You see what I mean about the hair?

That said, the end of the world according to the Vikings was apparently last week. The Ragnarök happened on Saturday, and now there should be a new beginning. I found that fact kind of entertaining and celebrated by reading a few pages of American Gods by Neil Gaiman again. I'm not entirely sure how the media came up with that date, but Nirel planned celebrating by watching Thor. Since for some reason iTunes didn't want to cooperate, he just watched the Avengers. Kids.

On Wednesday my grandson turned three. That was the cause of me digging up this video.

His name is Harel Oded, and this video features, among others, Harel Moyal, Harel Skaat and Oded Menashe. It was the promo video for Festigal, a kids' Chanukah program (song contest) in 2004. It's based on misheard lyrics and mentioning the singers participating in the show. My kids, including the all grown soldiers, love Festigal, and I usually end up paying a small fortune to take them to it every winter.

For the birthday party he had his first haircut and the entire toddler music class over. That is two friends, who had a lot of fun playing with Harel's new toys, and eating Angry Birds cake.

We are looking at a very busy March! Birthdays, Purim, more birthdays, St. Patrick's Day, a wedding… Yes, March is going to be busy! Judy's first Purim coincides with her first birthday. Her mother made her a very cute Lip balm costume, obviously… Blistex! She is such a big girl now, regularly using about ten words and fifteen signs. She just started walking, and she prefers big human food to baby food. That girl will love spices!

We had evaluations scheduled for the twins for today (Thursday). They will turn six in October and they can start school (first grade, aka kita alef) in September and they didn't attend public gan (kindergarten for ages 3-6), we wanted to see where they were in school preparedness. We were told to watch for signs of attention issues with Ezra, but both kids surprised their testers with their ability to read simple instructions. Ezra scored just below the recommended bracket for social development, but we were told not to worry, as he can develop a lot in that area in the next six months. We will sign him up for gymnastics as soon as he reaches the minimum age, and possibly cheerleading.

Since we homeschool it shouldn't be a problem whenever we decide to move from gan to kita alef, in theory, but regulations in Israel are different. Also because of my lack of Hebrew we decided to send the twins to school for first and possibly second grade.

Look, I can crochet. It only took a year to complete the boy doll's legs. Everything else was done in three days…

I used to tell Kevin that the only thing worth watching the Twilight movies for was Bella's dad, Charlie. I am glad that I can watch him in Revolution instead. Also, how do you use neck pillows? Apparently the proper way is to put them against the wall, and rest your head against the pillow, with the large headphones snuggled into the hole where, I would have thought, you neck would go. It makes sense….

Shabbat shalom!
